RE: Ecuador Project Hope looking for new preschool project
Hi Everyone. I visited the Morales Chupa school yesterday and everything is looking great. The Municipality tiled the floors, updated the kitchen, poured a large patio for the children and fencing the entire area so the children are safe. The teachers could use some volunteer help - many children in diapers - we supplied some that will last for awhile. Looking for a new project - does anyone know of a preschool in bad condition that needs repairs? Thank you to those who did help and appreciate any help for a new project. Reply to Micky Enright, Cotacachi Real Estate, email@example.com. ==========================

RE: RECOMENDATION ABOUT WHERE TO GET A GOOD MASSAGE
I would like to recommend Rosario, a colombian girl who does great massages for $20 the 45 min. She does relaxing massage and she knows what she's doing, she learned in a course she took in Quito from a teacher from Spain. She is very friendly and clean. She also does facials, treatments anti-aging.She is a certified nutritionist so she helps people with problems of diabetes, high blood pressure and diet.If you want to make an appointment, just go to her office at Bolivar y 9 de octubre in front of Cooperativa El Ejido (close to the main park). She doesn't speak English: 0984259636
RE: Pharmacia Economica saleJack Moss wants everyone to know that Pharmacia Economica has their sale on Monday and Tuesday of this week. ==========================
Hola friends, Romans, and countrymen:
Excerpt from Friday's newsletter (my message)"Many people who are not here already or at the moment, want to know if they can get certain prescriptions and what the cost will be. For $5, I will go the the local pharmacy and if they don't have it there, I will find out if they carry it in Ibarra: simply e-mail the name of the drug, its generic equivalent (if there is one) and I will take it from there. I have a PayPal account or you may pay me when you get here." The following does not actually address what I offered to do which is find out if a local pharmacy carries it and how much they charge (requires actual footwork on my part), but I want to keep everyone happy:
Terri - a person can go to the lab that manufactures their drug of choice in the USA and inquire where and if they can obtain it in EC FOR FREE. I just did this today. I would appreciate it if you would put the following on your list: If you wish to know if there is a certain medication you are taking is available in Ecuador, you can contact the lab in the USA that manufactures the drug and inquire if it is available in EC. Should you have further questions regarding this please email me at email@example.com. Donya Schweizer ==============================
RE: Providers of Immigration help Maybe you could start a list of providers of immigration help (need visa and cedula). Ask to the list for recommendations on immigration help and a ballpark price of getting residency. I know that I would like such information. A certain local provider has proved to be quite unresponsive. Has anyone attempted to and succeeded in doing it themselves? Recommendations please to: Max (Handy Max, the gringo handy man) firstname.lastname@example.org or reply to Terri at email@example.com ==============================

RE: Whole lotta needlin' going' on in Cotacachi. Not one, but two needlework groups so you can pick your day and pick your venue.
The newly organized needlework group will be meeting next Tuesday, March 5th, at Eddie's cafe at 1:00 p.m.
We will also be meeting in member's homes but we're going to see how people like it at Eddie's. Feel free to drop in next week if you're interested in working on a project, talking to other needlecrafters, and/or want help with a project. We have people who don't know how to do any needlework to those who are highly skilled.
You don't have to be a knitter or crocheter to be part of the group, either. Any work that is portable and has to do with fibers is great. We have people who not only knit and/or crochet but who do cross stitch, needlepoint, macramé, and probably many other things. At this point, if you want help with something other than knitting and crocheting, you would probably want to check to see if there is anyone in the group who could help but if you just want to work with other crafters, please feel free to join in.
If you would like to be added to the needlework group list (or if you're supposed to be on the list but didn't receive the email I sent out today (Wednesday), please send your information to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also at Casi Olivia on Thursdays, at 1:00 p.m.
Hook Maven Carol Whitmore will be here to teach/assist/advise with crochet. All needlework aficionados are welcomed! Carol volunteers her expertise.

Subject: Re: Travel-New airportFrom: email@example.com
I took my first flight out of the new airport and figured I'd pass on a bit of info. I took a cab from Otavalo . The trip took 1.5 hours and cost $40. The same cabbie said he would do the trip from Cotacachi for $45. Feel free to request his name and phone number. If you are on a Budget, you can take a bus from Otavalo to Cayambe or Quinche and cab from there. Quinche is pretty close to the airport and should be a low cost cab ride. Cayambe seems like it could cost $20 by taxi to the airport.
I got clean fast service for check in and baggage. Nice, big terminal, no problems, everything is well marked and logical. If you plan on eating and drinking inside the terminal, bring a fat bank roll. A coffee is $4, hamburger $13, salads $8-$11, croisandwich $7. Happy travels!!!! CHEESE PICKUP AND DELIVERY SERVICEI will be visiting the Yanayacu “Swiss” organic dairy and cheese factory this coming week, probably on Tuesday the 26th of February and I would gladly pick up some of their cheese for delivery to you or somewhere convenient for you either on Tuesday or on Wednesday the 27th. There is contact information at the end of this note.
The Yanayacu Cheese Factory has Jersey cows which feed on an organically-grown pasture of alfalfa and oats. The factory uses European cheese cultures and equipment imported from around the world in their factory. The factory's cellar, where some of the cheese gets washed daily with wine, ripens and stores cheeses in a controlled climate for months or years before they are ready to be vacuum-sealed and delivered to order.A five percent pickup fee is included in the prices listed below, and the weight of each cheese will be marked. Below is a photo of the factory price list from a few months ago (though some prices may have changed), for your reference. Regulations on imported dairy products and changing costs in general sometimes impact prices unexpectedly. Here are the cheeses available. Minimum order per piece is 300 grams (little over 1/2 lb)except for the Mutschli which comes in two pre-made sizes. The youngest cheeses have the mildest flavors. The first 3 cheeses are Gruyere types aged 4-6 months (2-4 year old cheeses are available on request--much stronger & more intense):1) Pardo: Aged a minimum of 6 months. Full flavored- almost sharp. Washed daily with red wine. Great with wine & fruit.2) Dorado: Made with the same cultures as the Pardo, but wine is not added; sharp; more smooth in texture.3) Yanayacu: Sweeter & mellower than the other two. Very similar to what is commonly called Swiss cheese.4) Raclette: Minimum 6 months: excellent for melting and in cooked dishes benefiting from its rich flavor.5) Fondue: Chunks of 2+ year old Dorado, Pardo or Yanayacu specifically for fondue.6) Clavelito: Average age 1 year. In the Tete du Moine style. Traditionally served in thin slivers due to its intense flavor.7) Mutschli: Aged 5 weeks. Semi-hard, nice aroma. Similar to a Fontina. Great for grilled cheese, pastas & other cooked food. Comes in a regular round (550-650g) or a mini (300-350g).8) Fresh: Aged 8 days. Usually available now. Mild but much richer than local Ecuadorian frescos. The best smooth melt you'll find here for pizza.CHEESE PRICES AS OF 2012 in Kg (NOT lbs) includes 5% pickupPARDO age from 4 months 1 day to 7 months: $21.95/KGDORADO, YANAYACU, RACLETTE, OR FONDUE fr 4 months 1 day to 7 mos: $20.72/KGCLAVELITO: $22.93/KGMUTSCHLI: $15.53/KGFRESH: $10.13/KGPlease respond via email with your cheese order by Monday evening, February 25th.Thanks,Dan (098 125 1525)Bocaditos No Tipicos
